FAQ's

How Does Your Paediatrician Work with Your Delivery Team?

If your baby is born early, they will probably go right to the neonatal intensive care unit, or NICU. Highly specialized NICU doctors and nurses will care for your baby and monitor their health until they develop enough to come home.

What does a NICU do?

NICU stands for new-born intensive care unit. This is a nursery in a hospital that provides around-the-clock care to sick or premature babies. It has health care providers who have special training and equipment to give your baby the best possible care.

How long do babies stay in NICU?

How long infants remain in the NICU depends on the severity of their illnesses. The average length of hospital stay for new-borns into a special care nursery is 13.2 days. However, infants born earlier than 32 weeks into pregnancy stayed for an average of 46.2 days.
